Maison & Objet: Paris 19-23 January 2018
The biannual exhibition of décor for the house is over since a few days in Paris.
A fair that looks ahead to new trends, to the added value that it could offer, to new talents… to renovate ideas and change them.
Even if I’ve been very busy last week with a new project to be completed in a very short time, as often happens, I stayed tuned on this event.
It had a certain acclaim and it was easy to follow it even remotely through Instagram with Italian and foreign designers’ profiles that were there present for us, and dedicated hashtag.
What do I think about it?
I’ve got a clear idea of the various trends, that I always keep an eye on, almost a constant follow up that is a passion for me, and I’ve been following everything even at a safe distance.
Meanwhile, let’s start by saying that I’d like it so much because I could have found everything I usually write about.
The trends that continue and that you’ll find even in my Blog in 2017 are:
Mainly the Floral style, this spring between Design and Fashion also the most skeptical will dare to fantasy, it will be the Must of the season and the passionate about this Style like us are at the forefront.
Velvets and the rose gold are not far behind, in fact they’ve just exploded and continue their take-off.
I like them so much and I often insert them into the styles I propose, this winter also together.
The flamingo continues unstoppable, also proposed for the kids’ bedrooms and in the softer shades, but it will not leave us soon.
Even the cactus, among pots, furnishing objects, printings and pouf will be very present, not only in the green variant but also in Gold for the most stylish and less informal environments.
Pastel tones are mixed together in order to create some Candy background, really so sweets, but modern and delicate that break into absolute white and in the most northern surroundings and soon they’ll be cleared by us too.
Natural wood is reborn as a real protagonist and also for the future it will be increasingly used for eco environments and with decor prints. The natural background is going to be more and more refined. Do you remember my post on the natural style? Here, the trend is just that one…
About this, there’s a trend of vertical plant walls.
Plants that play entire walls in the house, definitely impressive, but I see them particularly demanding both to support and to keep after installation.
As for the walls, there’s a return to wallpaper, to coverings of all types and genres. These Walls decorate as the best piece of design and capture the attention of those who live in the environment creating uniqueness. I like them so much.
Moreover the materials are always easier to install but even if we changed idea there’s no problem at all… a day of an expert worker, generally, puts everything back in place without stress.
The iconic pieces return undisputed despite the passing years, as the Lips of Gufram that remains one of my Top design pieces to have, if you have the right space.
Missoni Home was present at the fair and presented, besides his battle horses, some floral fantasies that I actually love, not only for the textiles but also for the table, really adorable.
Lastly, what caught my attention is the utilization of the Mint color, used in the most various objects and surroundings, so much so that a lot of present have said: Mint is the new black!
